Yangsook Choi grew up in Korea and moved to New York to study art. She was selected as one of the most prominent new children's book artists by Publishers Weekly. She has written and illustrated many children's books. Her books have received several awards, including the International Reading Association's Children's Book Award, a California Young Reader Medal and the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award.

Her clients include Random House, National Geographic Society, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Henry Holt & Company, Houghton Mifflin Company, McGraw Hill Company, Pearson Education, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines and the Children's Book Council.

Her works have been showcased at the Society of Illustrators, the Children's Museum of the Arts, School of Visual Arts, Art Director’s Club and New York Public Library.

She has spoken at Smithsonian Institute, Parsons School of Design, the School of Visual Arts, Random House, Barnes & Noble, Children's Museum of the Arts, Asian American Writer's Workshop and various institutions.

She received an MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City where she currently resides.
